Tantum Rosa® is a powder medicine for preparing a solution for vaginal irrigation. The active substance of the medicine is benzydamine, which belongs to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

How do Tantum Rosa® sachets with benzydamine 53.2 mg/g work?

The Tantum Rosa® medicinal product is used intravaginally and on the mucous membrane of the external genitalia. The benzydamine contained in it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, and also has a local anesthetic and disinfectant effect.

The Tantum Rosa® medicine in sachets is intended for intravaginal use and on the mucous membrane of the external genitalia in the local treatment of ailments and symptoms such as pain, burning, itching, redness, discharge, swelling in the area of ​​the external genitalia and vagina, resulting from vulvitis and vaginitis, cervicitis of various origins.
Tantum Rosa® benzydamine sachets are also used in pre- and postoperative prophylaxis in gynecology, as well as to relieve vulvar discomfort during the puerperium, as support for the physiological healing process of wounds after childbirth (for washing during the puerperium).
Tantum Rosa® in the form of powder in sachets allows for easy application of the drug. Benzydamine applied locally is well absorbed, reaching a high concentration in tissues affected by the inflammatory process. It gives a quick analgesic effect, noticeable from the first use of the drug. Treatment with benzydamine does not affect the natural vaginal flora (it does not affect Lactobacillus acidophilus strains). The drug is safe for pregnant women, after childbirth and during breastfeeding.
Indications
Tantum Rosa® is widely used in the treatment of ailments and symptoms (pain, burning, itching, discharge, redness, swelling) in the area of ​​the external genitalia and vagina in:
the course of vulvitis and vaginitis, including relieving the ailments and symptoms accompanying intimate infections of various etiologies: fungal, bacterial, mixed,
the course of cervicitis of various origins (e.g. infections, mechanical irritations),
relief of vulvar ailments during the postpartum period (Tantum Rosa® relieves pain and accelerates the healing of the perineal wound after natural childbirth),
pre- and postoperative prophylaxis in gynecology (e.g. preparation for surgery, post-procedure convalescence),
after chemo- and radiotherapy in oncology patients.

Composition
What does Tantum Rosa® contain?

1 sachet of the drug contains:
active substance: benzydamine hydrochloride 500 mg,
excipients: sodium chloride, povidone, trimethylcentylammonium p-toluenesulfonate.

Action
Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, local anesthetic, disinfectant.

Dosage
How to use Tantum Rosa®, powder?

Use 1-2 sachets a day, depending on the severity of the symptoms.
Dissolve the contents of 1 sachet in 0.5 l of boiled and cooled water, immediately before use.
Each time, prepare a new solution from 1 sachet.
In order to achieve improvement, the treatment should not last less than 3 days.
In order to properly and safely perform vaginal rinsing (irrigation), read the instructions for use included with the intimate hygiene irrigator, available in pharmacies without a prescription.

Contraindications
Allergy to any of the ingredients of the drug.
Storage
Tantum Rosa® should be stored out of the sight and reach of children. Store in an upright position.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the given month.

Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Very rare side effects (occurring in less than 1 person in 10,000) include:
burning sensation of the vaginal mucosa,
photoallergic rash,
urticaria.
